Effects of Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement on Mechanical Characteristics of Asphaltic Mixtures for Surface Layer

Reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) is considered one of the valuable alternatives to raw materials due reducing need use materials, which are less in some world regions. It additionally reduces highly-priced new bitumen required inside asphaltic mixture manufacturing and contributes preservation natural resources. To achieve maximum benefit from integration RAP mixture, it necessary investigate advantages disadvantages recycling process on properties pavement. This study examines effect adding reclaimed by different percentages mechanical for surface layer terms Marshall's stability, Retained Marshall indirect tensile strength, compressive strength. Two types grade (40-50) (60-70) were used addition type aggregate gradation wearing course prepare mixture. The Superpave system was applied select best optimum content using Gyratory Compactor (SGC) compacted specimens 100 mm diameter simulating Marshall’s molds. PAP added four (7, 13, 19, 25) % weight total samples prepared compare with conditional ones. results show that improved measured properties. In contrast, mix containing showed lower loss higher stripping resistance, better durability than without RAP.
